It's the B and B pocket. It's the B and P pocket. It's the B and P pocket.

SPEAKER_03

This is just then a double scoop of bad news.

SPEAKER_02

Man, life just isn't letting up. I feel like the walls are closing in, and I don't have a way to stop it. I wish there was somewhere I could go. Some place where I could just get away from everything.

SPEAKER_03

And just be creative. There is a creative workshop. I heard your play. Okay in the Great Arrow building on Elmwood Avenue. Use our space, our art supplies and equipment to your heart's content. Let us hope you be back with dress and feel centered again.

SPEAKER_01

Wow, that sounds great. I'll check it out.

SPEAKER_03

Always remember if the world has your creative spirits in a rut, come to the Buffalo Creative Workshop before pick me up. More about Buffalo Creative Workshop can be found at Buffalo.creativeWorkshop on Instagram.

SPEAKER_00

Good morning, good evening, good night, BMP listeners. This is Benjamin Joe. And I am Max. And we are broadcasting from Elmwood Avenue on our 50th episode for the BMP podcast.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man, the streamers in the confetti are everywhere.

SPEAKER_00

There's no leaves on the trees yet, but it's supposed to be spring. I mean, kinda. It is kind of spring right now. What do you think, Max? What do you think about the pod, what we've been doing all this time?

SPEAKER_02

I think it's it's ponderific. Pondorific? Ponderific. Ponderific. Ponderific. Yeah, yeah, man. Just keep going. I'm you know, we built something solid, I feel, and uh just uh I want to see it grow, you know.

SPEAKER_00

For uh those listeners who didn't tune into the first couple episodes, uh Max and I have been doing this pod since August uh 2026. Yeah, it's still 2026. Um before 2025. Was it 2025? Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. It was August all the way in past December. Now it's yeah. It's hard to re to keep things together when you work with the past and the present all at the same time, and possibly the future. Ben is the Terminator. Uh it could could happen. You're a woman who's crazy and thinks that that robots are gonna take over the world? The robots are gonna take over the world. Oh well, there you go. Yeah, he's he's playing his part. There you go. Yeah, so we've done a lot of things. We've we've had on a bunch of different kinds of people. We've had uh musicians, obviously. It's Buffalo Music Players podcast. Um And uh we're gonna have people coming up in the future. We got a creative therapy um therapist, yeah, creative work therapist coming on. Um we've got a bunch of rappers, a bunch of people from bands.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we're gonna keep having different people because entrepreneurs, Buffalo Music players isn't just for the people that make music, it's for the people that actually like play music even so we were like expand the whole thing because like everybody plays music, you feel me? So it's like it's kind of our little way to make sure that everyone gets a chance to be heard and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just like the support we wouldn't be able to have music if it wasn't for the people supporting it. We need the venues, we need the guys on the sound booth, we need we need all of them. We just need uh, you know, I mean we we're living literally in one of the most prolific music scenes in the country. I mean, Buffalo has a pretty solid reputation. People come to Buffalo thinking there'll be music if they know anything about Buffalo, the chicken wings and the Bills. There you go. And um, we're just living in it. We're just living in it. And you know, I mean, sometimes people will say, Oh, it's boring here, there's nothing to do. Well, sometimes there is nothing to do for you if you have no money and you do not have a car. But in general, there is always something going on. Yeah, you gotta just look. You gotta look. I mean, even if it's just like going to c comedy shows every single night, like it can be done. Like, I haven't branched out to doing that because I'm lazy, but um, you know, if I want to laugh every night of the week, it can be done. If you I want to see music every night of the week, it can be done.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah, the whole thing of the pod is we're just trying to one spotlight people, give them light, you know, that you maybe wouldn't get otherwise. Nobody's bigger than anybody else. And just to show people that like there is a lot of stuff going on in Buffalo. It's not just like, you know, like Ben said, chicken wings and blue cheese and shit. Like, you know, there's there's like people with real things to show, whether that be paintings, acting, dancing, you know, it's a it's a multicultural, multi-talented city, and I'm just happy that we get to spotlight it. And hopefully we get to continue that more and we get to have like a a Batman level spotlight on it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, absolutely. You know, I mean, just thinking about this, I mean nobody's uh better than anybody else, but I'm just wondering, is there any favorite episode that you have, do you think? Mine. Yours? Yeah, mine. You know, it's funny because mine is the one directly after that, which is with Sky Vance. I really enjoyed talking to her as an artist. And and we've actually had a few more artists on since um visual artists, I should say, since she came on our second episode, like way back in August.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um what kind of music what was your favorite musical one? I think my mine was Ud Thomas. I think he was pretty cool.

SPEAKER_02

Uh Thomas.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Thomas, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, my favorite musical one. I'm gonna go with myself again.

SPEAKER_00

You're you're you're kind of focused right now. I I can see that.

SPEAKER_02

Hyper focused on myself, yeah. Just hyper focused on yourself.

SPEAKER_00

We have some laughs though, too. Like, we don't we're not just like very serious people talking about oh, this is this is what's happening, and get over here to go and see the new Neo Grunge movement on Fifth Street or whatever. Like, we we we have fun with that with the people that come on the pod.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah, we um I like to think that we focus what kind of like takes us apart from other podcasts is we focus on the person, and then thus we can focus on the product that that person makes because we are products of our experiences. So I like to just extract the person and then then see what they made as as like instead of like okay, like let's just focus on the music. You know, everybody makes music and stuff like that, but only you as a person can make that type of music because only you can be you, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. I don't know who who's really shows that is uh John Tuhill. Yeah, like that was a good episode. Just know you look at it and you're like, wow, this guy is a person, he's a character. He's just like, you know, he's really fun to talk to, honestly. And um, that's why I really like that episode that we did with him. Um you can you all y'all can look at the uh the backlog of of uh of episodes. I know it doesn't actually say fift episode 50 on any of them. Yeah, but just count when you go to like see all. Yeah, when you see all, you can count, you can count all the breaking episodes. Uh those breaking episodes were really fun. They're really fun. It's fun to be under a deadline sometimes.

SPEAKER_02

That's um, those are good, like when people are like there's nothing to do, just check out a breaking episode. There you go. It's right in your face.

SPEAKER_00

Right in your face. And you get to hear all about like the expectations of the people who are putting on the show. There's just so many great shows. Like we were just talking about the the oi open mic, um, not oi punk rock music, but oi infinite as an operation infinity open mic with hip hop.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, shout out Jesub and all of them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're doing he's doing really good stuff, you know. I like his mask. I don't know why he wears a mask all the time. You know what I'm talking about, the white mask that's on half of his face? Yeah, oh is it just artsy. It is artsy. It is artsy, yeah. You're an artist though, Max. What tell us about this? What what inspires you to go and do art here in this great uh metropolis?

SPEAKER_02

Um, what inspires me is just I get a feeling and then I just follow that feeling and get it done.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_02

I don't, you know, I don't believe I don't believe in like um inspirations and stuff. I just believe in like, okay, this happened, so I process it and then I just make it into some art, whether that be writing or music or whatever. But you know, I'm no different than anyone else. I'm sure there's countless people in the city that do that, so but um I'm just you know, I'm uh I hope to keep connecting with those people and uh networking and um branching out, man, because uh I feel like we're gonna really grow into a nice bamboo tree one of these days.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, definitely. I'm I'm looking forward to talking to some of the people that are like uh scheduled to come on. Yeah. Um I can't remember. Uh oh highlights is one highlight Solan. I want to talk to her.

SPEAKER_02

Definitely highlights, definitely want to talk to them.

SPEAKER_00

And um, who else? Morgue Taylor. Terror. Morgue Terror. Morgue Terror. I want to go and talk to some more metal bands.

SPEAKER_02

They've got that whole um on June 6th, Buffalo's, I think it's their first the first, I'm not 100% sure. But it's there it's like one of the they're having like a big uh metal festival.

SPEAKER_00

Oh cool. June 6th. June 6th, that's my sister's birthday.

SPEAKER_02

That here he says, you can bring her to the the the Buffalo Metal Fest.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she would like that. Yeah, she she actually would. She loves the metal music. She she has all sorts of tattoos and piercings and stuff. She um she really got into metal when I was still like dinkering around with folk music that was coming out of the scene.

SPEAKER_02

Gotcha. Yeah, so you know, there's there's always stuff going on, man. Buffalo's the world for real, for real.

SPEAKER_00

For real, for real. Um anything else? Anything else that we want to talk about?

SPEAKER_02

No, I think uh you know, like we just hit you with a curveball. You know, most people might be like, oh, 50th episode, we're gonna have like uh the Google dolls or something? No, you're gonna have two guys talking in a car. Yeah, we're literally in my car right now. Cause we hit you with those curveballs, man. You feel me? Hard hitting questions. Hard hitting questions.

SPEAKER_00

The amount of time people have said that's a good question, I could like probably count on like all my fingers and toes, maybe, but because you know, 20. 20 good questions. 20 good questions. That's all that's a that's a good game right there. What do you think about people who might want to go and create their own podcast? Because I'm I'm thinking it's gonna be a big wave with uh with like adolescents in the next few years.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, because this podcast thing is so new.

SPEAKER_00

Well, not us podcasts, but like it's gotten to the point where like a kid can use it like pretty easily without really doing anything wrong and this kid-friendly spaces.

SPEAKER_02

It's hyper saturated. All I'm saying is like if you want to do a podcast, what would it be? Like, you know, whatever, whatever. Just be consistent. Even if you're just farting in the mic, you know, don't steal that idea. You're there's like a billion-dollar idea right there. Um, but yeah, just be consistent on what you want to do. Uh know yourself so you don't put yourself in any like weird predicaments where you're not you feel uncomfortable because you know you're putting your shit online. So just be comfortable with yourself, be consistent, and just keep going.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and also don't don't be afraid to use resources that you come across. I mean, safe resources, like the public library, which is you know honestly where we've been like sitting up to that.

SPEAKER_02

Those are ground zero, those like our origin spot. Yeah, for sure, for sure.

SPEAKER_00

The good old uh, you know, the public library, they've got all sorts of things. Well, I haven't yet learned how to use a green screen, but I'm getting better. Yeah. I think it's I know the concept better now than I used to, which is really great.

SPEAKER_02

See, there you go. Rely on other, um, you know, rely on resources like Ben just said.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and don't be afraid to invest in yourself. That's another guy, Jamal Gasol. Great episode. Very good episode. Yeah, he's all about investing in himself. All about investing in himself. Have you seen his uh music videos on his there? He he's coming up really, really good with some of the stuff. And he's proud of his kid too. He's a really good father as well, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we don't you can never have too many of those for sure. Oh, that's Jamal Gasol.

SPEAKER_00

Jamal Gasol.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so yeah, and to piggyback what uh Ben was saying, um, don't expect to get anywhere or don't expect to get far doing shit for free. You know what I mean? Like just you gotta put money into it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you have to save up those pants, get a part-time job, use it to go and support your pod.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, or whatever you got going on, man. But a pod is a great jumping off point to open up other doors that you might not otherwise have.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, absolutely, absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

So, um, yeah, if you want to do a podcast, just look at it as like a key and um just don't be upset if it doesn't open the first door you see, just keep turning that bitch, and eventually something good's gonna pop up.

SPEAKER_00

Something will pop up. Pretty soon you can be bigger than BMP.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know about that now, but you know, you can there's uh you know, Godzilla's got a whole bunch of different monsters and stuff, so maybe you can like catch us, you know, be as big as us. I don't know if you'll be bigger than us, but there's room here.

SPEAKER_00

There's room to grow. We're uh we we are we in fact are still growing. Like every single month I look at the at the stats and I say I see us getting a little bit better, a little bit faster, a little bit cleaner, a little bit more efficient. Like the million dollar man. Like the million dollar man, yeah. We are literally composed of parts. And I don't even know if this is a good idea, but I've just been like trying to go and get people to the Instagram page. Yeah, like I don't know if that's a good idea. I've just been following people to the Instagram page. It's like just come to this Instagram page, and then you can get on the links and get on the pod and get on the blog, and you know, it seems to make sense to me. It costs literally nothing except a couple a couple ten dollar bills a month for the distribution services, and that and that's it. It's not really it's not really an expensive thing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, yeah, you just need to you like I said, you have to put money just even just a little bit just to facilitate what you got going on.

SPEAKER_00

I think I I ate I ate like I ate like a Pop Tart and a and uh and a soda like every day at the library for like literally a couple months. Would you remember that?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's not a good diet.

SPEAKER_00

It was a terrible diet. It was a terrible diet. I I had to go and stop. I mean, my health was not was dwindling because of that. Well the one pop diet, yeah, yeah, yeah. I I stopped drinking Pepsi after that because I got so tired of you know Spotify doing things and them advertising everywhere.

SPEAKER_02

And see, guys, that's that's the downside of the pod though, is like, you know, when you're so locked in, you're grinding so hard, sometimes you might just eat sugary shit.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. From from from from from vending machines of questionable origin.

SPEAKER_02

So just make sure that you're on a proper diet until you can continue with your mission.

SPEAKER_00

Plenty of veggies and protein, a good solid mix of greens and um well, we have meat meat products, I guess. There you go.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, so this this ends the uh dietitian section of the pod. And um hope to see you guys on the 51st episode because that's coming up as well.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely, and get in touch with us if you'd like one of our stickers. We're gonna have start having merch pretty soon. BMP merch. We do have stickers. We have stickers. If you hit me up on Instagram saying, hey, I want a sticker, I will meet you or drop them off or mail them to where you wherever they need to be. Don't be afraid to to uh support the pod with a couple dollars and also add your comments. We need to know what you guys want, or else we're gonna we're gonna just keep serving up stuff that we want over and over again. And believe me, it's a pretty bland diet of just wondering if people were like artists in their childhood and possibly whether they know a song by a Buffalo musician. I mean, it's it's something, it's a good gimmick.

SPEAKER_02

It's again, everybody's different, so even if you ask the same question, you'll get a different perspective.

SPEAKER_00

That is true. I do feel most people were artists in their in their in their childhood though. Well, everyone's an artist.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, you're right. Yeah, there is that joke.

SPEAKER_02

Then you develop the mask and like lose it all and become boring an adult. So don't become a boring adult. Yeah, be weird.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, have fun. Weird is wonderful. Weird is a good thing. It's definitely, you know, especially here in the middle of Elmwood Village. I feel like Oh yeah, weird thrives here. Weird thrives here. You just keep going south where it's just gonna get more and more weird. Yeah, um thrives.

SPEAKER_02

You know, I mean, um after a long day, it's hard to turn off. That's why I go to Mammoth Cannabis on 212 Ohio Street. There's stuff I'll have you laid out flatter than a mammoth foot. From flour to pre-roll, vaporizers to concentrate. You can rest assured that something big is waiting for you at Mammoth Dispensary. Just keep in mind, if you smoke cereal from the General Mills factory nearby, they can't help you. You have to go home and get a bowl yourself. It's a dispensary, not an eatery after all.

SPEAKER_00

Here's something. Do you feel like there's not enough pizza places on Elmwood Avenue anymore?

SPEAKER_02

I feel like there's not enough good pizza places in Flow in general. I can't find like a good spot.

SPEAKER_00

I don't I like Gino's a lot. I like their stromboly. Mm-mm, it's greasy. Too greasy? Greasy. Okay, oh yeah, you're a real you're a real pizza snub. I forgot about this.

SPEAKER_02

Like grease.

SPEAKER_00

Mr. Pizza is down for uh maintenance for the next couple months.

SPEAKER_02

I I don't like Mr. Pizza neither.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't really like pizza.

SPEAKER_02

The only place I can be like this place is good every time, and I even have to make a concession for it. You're not paying me for this, but if I want like a slice, I go to Just Pizza.

SPEAKER_00

Just pizza.

SPEAKER_02

Because I know that one slice, like I don't know the whole pizza, eh. But I know that one slice every time is gonna be fire.

SPEAKER_00

You know, they do gluten-free crust and like dairy-free cheese at Just Pizza as well.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they do they're pretty crazy with the customization. They are pretty crazy with it. So shout out Just Pizza.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out Just Pizza.

SPEAKER_02

If you want to be a sponsor, I'll be happy.

SPEAKER_00

If you you could just pay us with a slice a month, like we'd be so happy.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Pay me with money, and then out of that money, I'll go get a slice or something.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's true. Oh, let's talk about our sponsors real quick. We got three of them right now. Four of them. Four, three gold, and one just regular, regular sponsorship. Gotcha. Uh, we got uh Captain Tom and the hooligans.

SPEAKER_02

Shout out Captain Tom. Hopefully you get on the pod soon.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's been a minute. I know he I I've interviewed him on the vlog. We we bump into each other every so often places. He's a really sweet guy, really nice guy. Um, his music is always fun and entertaining. So, and I don't mind saying that, knowing of course that he does contribute to bringing this this uh this pod to you guys. Yeah. Um Mammoth Dispensary. Mammoth Dispensary, great, great, great place to be. Good people, good people, uh, casual atmosphere. Very good. And if you are just in need of some edibles, like, yeah, they're the place to go. Go out, go in Riverside, walk in the park. Like, it is a good time. Just try to see the silos, go to Duende. I don't know. Yeah, get get stoned out of your mind, is what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

There you go.

SPEAKER_00

Because you really don't have to get into a car because it's a really nice area to be in.

SPEAKER_02

Then we go to Cheyenne's Waxing Studio.

SPEAKER_00

Cheyenne's Waxing Studio. I actually haven't ever been there, but Max tells me it's nice.

SPEAKER_02

Neither of us will probably ever really go there for the services that they provide, but you know, Max is an opportunist, so he sees that opportunity and he goes for it. So do you have a long-standing relationship with Cheyenne over at uh Yeah, she's a friend.

SPEAKER_00

She's a friend? That's cool. And of course, Buffalo Creative Workshop. And Buffalo Creative Workshop. And we uh we got our stickers from them, and they're quality made, so we can do a test to it. And um, there's also shows that go on there. I've been to a workshop that's been that that's been there for writing fiction. And um a couple other times hanging out.

SPEAKER_02

Cool stuff, a lot of different stuff. They throw like uh drag shows and teach you how to do zines and all that stuff. So if you guys are you know hankering for something creative, definitely check out the Buffalo Creative Workshop. They'll definitely take care of you for that type of stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and it's totally open, like just throughout the day. If you find the Green Arrow building, that's that's one of the main buildings that you need to know about in this city, I think. I mean, I think it's Tri-Main, uh Green Arrow building where uh where the Buffalo Creative Workshop is. And there's a couple more. We went to that place on uh on Main Street the other day uh with uh Kurt Rotterdam. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Art spaces are so cool. I'd love to have an art space somewhere. We could do this pot in my art space. Yeah, it would be but yeah, it costs money though. It probably would cost money, but it's cost money right now. Like I'm actually paying for parking where where we're parked right now. Yeah, well, space will cost even more. I I hope so. I promise. I I I well, you know, I just want things to make sense in the world that art space should cost more.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, nothing makes sense, man. Only dollars.

SPEAKER_00

And D-O-L-L-A-R-S. Yeah. What do you think we should get sponsors next? Who's the next person? On the list that we should go and hit up to uh feature in our pod via commercial. And then we'll go on to the guests after that. I'm just so focused on sponsors and venues and places where people can be.

SPEAKER_02

And uh I have no idea. I really don't know. I don't know. Anyone that's listening to this that wants to be a sponsor, reach out to Ben.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and you can find me on the DM of uh Buffalo Music Players. It's uh it's right there at D-U-F-F-L-A-L-O. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We have enough work like with the sponsors and stuff where people will see like, okay, I like this. I don't, you know, so if you want to join the team, the winning team.

SPEAKER_00

The winning podcast. Yeah. It is Buffalo Podcast.

SPEAKER_02

Hit Ben up. Hit Ben up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just find me on Instagram. It's pretty easy to find me. Benjamin Joe. You'll there's only a couple people named Benjamin Joe in this world that's on Facebook. So I'm not the guy that that is in charge of Facebook's operations in Southeast Asia. I'd like to meet that guy just to find out what what how he's managed to go and steal my name and besmirch it with such. Yeah. I'll never meet him. He's he's part of the rich elite. Um, which reminds me of a comic book that I also bought at Creative Buffalo series. But I mean at Buffalo Creative Workshop as well. Okay. But let's go on into weeds. Who who do we want? Who is there anybody out there that you really want to shout out to to go and say come come on the spot, Max?

SPEAKER_02

No, everyone's welcome. I don't have any specific person.

SPEAKER_00

I'd like to talk to Benny the Butcher.

SPEAKER_02

You want to talk to Ben? I don't think we're gonna get Benny the Butcher anytime soon, man. Probably not anytime soon, but we definitely would have to pay him. I can almost guarantee you that too.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you think that he would he has to be paid for?

SPEAKER_02

I almost guarantee you, like, I'd almost put my whole whole soul on it that he would charge with me.

SPEAKER_00

Benny the Butcher, if you want to go and make an offer, we'll consider anything.

SPEAKER_02

Benny, if you want to get on for free, bro, we got you. Alright. We not charge we don't charge our guests, man. We don't pay our guests. Everything's free out here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I think it should be noted that like we are not snobs when it comes to our guests, usually. Like, not really. Like, we will anybody with like something that they want to talk about. Oh yeah. If you're willing to go and like put your your name on the line and be recorded and like put all over the world via internet, you have a home with us, and and we will not embarrass you. Or at least try not to. Or at least not try not to. Sometimes I say things. Check our best effort not to make you look bad. Yeah, if you if if you have something or you even have like a curiosity, art or or music, or just a general philosophy, if you're an old person with like a lot of uh knowledge of the scene that you want to go and get out there and like spout some wisdom for us, I'm willing to listen.

SPEAKER_02

Like I was saying, it's a it's a it's a third space, it's an open space. Shout out to third space. Where like you can you talk about whatever you like. Like I keep saying, like, we have the spotlight on you. Whatever you like to talk about, talk about it, you know?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, and uh, yeah, we just don't pay our guests to be on. That's all.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That looks about all the time we have for today. Anything else you want to go on to Max? May the sauce be with you. Yeah, sure it's coming soon. Happy 50th anniversary, Monacous. Thank you so much for listening. Bye.
